StatBroadcast partners with Sugar Bowl for New Orleans BCS games
NEW ORLEANS, LA. -- StatBroadcast and the Sugar Bowl reached an agreement today to provide StatBroadcast's StatMonitr service at the 2012 Allstate Sugar Bowl, on January 3, 2012 and the 2012 Allstate BCS National Championship, on January 9, 2012, at the Super Dome in New Orleans. StatBroadcast will provide its web-based media stats service, its wireless stat monitor screens and on-site support for the worldwide media that will cover the two premiere games of the college football season.
"We're extremely excited to bring the Sugar Bowl on as a partner. Our entire business model began with providing our service and support to premiere events like the BCS games, and we're looking forward to a long and productive relationship with the bowl," said StatBroadcast president Nate Policar. "With the addition of the National Championship Game being hosted in New Orleans this year, we're embracing the opportunity to help raise the bar for the Sugar Bowl, as we have in the previous two years."
The Allstate Sugar Bowl is in its 78th year and is the second-oldest bowl game behind the Rose Bowl. The game annually pits the champion of the Southeastern Conference against a BCS at-large bid and is played at the Louisiana Super Dome in New Orleans, home of the NFL's Saints. The Sugar Bowl is a member of the Bowl Championship Series, along with the Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl and Orange Bowl.
The 2012 Allstate National Championship Game will also be played in the Super Dome, marking the fourth time that the city of New Orleans has hosted the event and the second under the standalone championship game format. The game will feature the two teams ranked number one and number two by the BCS standings at the end of the regular season, and will determine the U.S. national champion of the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision. This will also mark the fourth BCS national championship that StatBroadcast has provided services for.
